Jack Wilson/Ian Snell/Freddy Sanchez Traded (and another trade)

This was goin' to be a blog about Brett Farve, but the Pirates latest trade, is more important in my mind.

SS Jack Wilson and P Ian Snell traded to the Seattle Mariners for C Jeff Clement and SS Ronny Cedeno also the Pirates get Nathan Adcock, Brett Lorin, and Aaron Pribanic, all 3 of those players are pitchers.

Jack Wilson was a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, and he was my favorite player, and its sad to see him be traded. Im not a big fan of Ian Snell, he will probably win the Cy Young next season, because when Pirates trade players, they usually become very good players for their new team.

Also the Pirates trade Freddy Sanchez to the San Francisco Giants for pitcher Tim Alderson. This trade made me mad, so im not goin' to write alot about this. The Pirates trade 2 really good players in 1 day.

Also the Philadelphia Phillies became a better now that they have gotten last year's AL Cy Young winner Cliff Lee from the Cleveland Indians. Cliff Lee has a record of 7-9 and a 3.14 ERA, not a Cy Young year, but an okay year. Cleveland gets Philadelphia's top 4 prospects in this trade. Philadelphia has gets Ben Francisco in this trade.

Best of luck to Jack, Freddy, and Ian to their new teams.

Capcom Bowling!

Back in May of this year, I went on vacation to Florida, but I never made a post about it. Well I am bored, so I decided to make a post about a game that I play so much every year when I am in Florida.

I own at the game!

On my last day in Florida, I took a picture of the 10 high scores. All but #5 is mine, and #3 is a mistake with the "IAK" The only other blog post I made about Florida was the post from the Rays game I was at while in Florida.

Adam LaRoche Traded

The Pirates trade 1B Adam LaRoche to the Boston Red Sox. The Pirates get prospects from Boston. Adam LaRoche to this point in the season has been the Pirates leader in HRs (12) and RBIs (40), and runs scored (46), but Adam's average is only .247 this season. Check out MLB.com for more news on this trade.

Tonights Pirates Game

I deleted my last post about this, that I posted earlier today, but I decided to delete it, and write the blog again. Also I gave it the same title.

I was gonna go to tonights Pirates vs. Brewers game, but here is why im not gonna go now.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It rained, and there was thunderstorms, so the game was probably goin to be canceled or delayed, and there probably wasnt gonna be BP, so I decided not to go.

UPDATE: around 6pm, I took the picture below.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Clear skies, I f'n knew I should of went to the game. The picture of the rain was taken around 3:30, so if it doesnt start to rain around game time (7pm) I will NEVER trust the weather man on the news ever again!

LaRoche Brothers

This weekend series against the San Francisco Giants. Adam and Andy LaRoche both batted horrible.

Adam LaRoche
Fri 7/17- 0 for 5 and 2 strikeouts
Sat 7/18- 0 for 3 and 1 strikeout
Sun 7/19- 1 for 4 and 1 strikeout
Series 1 for 12 and 4 strikeouts
So far in July Adam has an average that is UNDER .100
Also in July Adam has only 5 hits. That is terrible.

Andy LaRoche
Fri 7/17- 0 for 5 and 3 strikeouts
Sat 7/18- 1 for 3 and 1 RBI and no strikeouts
Sun 7/19- 1 for 3 and a walk
Series 2 for 11 and 3 strikeouts
In July Andy has an average that is UNDER .200

Anyways, I think Adam is better than Andy because Adam is one of the best fielders in the MLB, I don't remember that last time he made an error, and Adam has more power than Andy.

Combined in this recent series the LaRoche brother batted 3 for 23 with 7 strikeouts.

7/17/09- Pirates vs. Giants

One word will sum up this whole day for me, and that word is FRUSTRATION. Well, first the picture below is a new hotel near PNC Park, and Pittsburgh DOES NOT need it.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I had 6 chances to get a ball at this game. Want to know how many I got? Well then read on.
Before I got in line at the gate, I walked into Diamond Club Pizza (yum!) and saw if they were gonna have BP,
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
and YES they were!
Ok, I usually take pictures of BP of the players who give me a ball, well I had 4 chances to get a ball in BP, and I came up dry. First chance was a ball thrown by Evan Meek went over my head, and some guy came up with it. Second chance was a ball thrown by Garret Jones (Best Pirate right now) went over my head bounced right next to me, and a guy picked up the ball just before I did. Third chance was when the gate to Section 142 opened at 5:30, I looked down into Section 141, and I saw a ball in the front row, so I hurried to Section 141, before anyone else could get the ball, but someone did.Fourth chance was a ball that was by the wall in left field, NO Giants player would pick up the ball, and throw it, so a cop went over picked up the ball, and gave it to a kid. After BP I went to my seat, and it began to rain.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The picture above was taken before the rain started, look at the clouds on the top left corner of the picture. Then around 6:30 it started to rain.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A little bit after 7, they took the tarp of the field.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The new game time was 7:50. The next picture is the first pitch from my seat.

Section 127 Row F Seat 13, good seat.
Great seat for foul balls, and a good part of this game was gettin' to see Tim Lincecum pitch.

Okay, I moved around THE WHOLE GAME to try and get a ball, I left my seat durin' the stretch, and moved to the left field bleachers to try and get a warm-up ball from Brandon Moss. Well in the 9th (I think) a foul ball was hit.
Guess where it went, into the SECTION 127!!!!!!!!
Also in the 9th, Brandon Moss, threw the warm-up near me, I stuck my glove up in the air, and someone, probably around the same age as me, put his glove in front of mine and caught the ball, so that was 6 chances I had to catch a ball, and I got 0! I was so mad, only because this was my first game in over a month, and I was so sure that I was gonna have a good day. Well it was a good day because the Pirates won the game 2-1, off of 2 Garret Jones solo homeruns! I left in the bottom of the 10th becuase, I was FRUSTRATED that I didnt get a ball all day. I got home before the game ended, and I watched in the 14th when Jones hit that 2nd homerun to win the game.

Season
-7 balls
-5 games
- 1.4 average

Next game, either July 22nd vs. Brewers, or July 31st vs. Nationals, or August 6th vs. Diamondbacks.

2009 MLB All-Star Game/HR Derby

All-Star Game
The AL wins the 2009 All-Star game, 4-3 in St. Louis. Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Rays won the MVP award. The All-Star game was OK, the bad part was that the NL did not put in the 2 Pirates players that were in it (Freddy Sanchez, Zach Duke).

HR Derby
Prince Fielder won the Homerun Derby. My pick, Adrain Gonzalez, only hit 2 homeruns. Brandon Inge put up a goose egg, I think someone other than Inge should have been in the HR Derby a player like Aaron Hill(TOR) or Jason Bay (BOS). I thought the Derby was alright, last year's was better.

Joe Sakic Retires

NHL legend (and future Hall Of Famer) Joe Sakic retires. Sakic who played in the NHL for 20 years. Sakic played 1378 career games, had 625 goals, 1016 assists, for a total of 1641 points. Sakic also had 188 points in 172 career playoff games. I believe his best season was the 95/96 season where he had a career high 120 points with 51 goals and 69 assists. He is currently 8th on the NHL all time scorin' list. He was a captain for 17 of his 20 NHL seasons. He played in 12 NHL All-Star games.
